Sample Design Problem:
Your women's studies class has a huge debate whether young children still hold stereotyped views about what professions men and women can hold. How could you test this with access to several kindergarten classes?

In order to test this debate, I am going to prepare two pictures of profession. However, these professions must be focused from kindergartener’s point of view. This means that I need to prepare professions that a normal kindergartener can easily think of. Then, there will be a male and a female instructor holding a picture of a policeman and nurse. Tell the children to make a O sign or a X sign if they think the instructors are holding the right occupations according to their gender. Count the number of O and X.

Hypothesis: If the subjects are shown pictures of nurse and policeman, then there will be overwhelming number of children who think men should be policeman and women should be nurse.

Independent Variable: Pictures of profession

Dependent Variable: Results of the young children

Controlled Variables: Same age of 30 boys and 30 girls in a classroom. Male and female instructors will show 2 pictures to the subjects.

Subjects: Same age of 30 boys and 30 girls.
